Locale Enhancement Project

This feature was delivered into JDK 7 which was released July 2011. The Project was dissolved by virtue of losing its sponsoring Group. Discussion about locales may be found on i18n-dev.

The goal of this Project is to enhance the java.util.Locale class in order to bring the Java platform into conformance with IETF BCP47 and UTR35(CLDR/LDML). A detailed proposal may be found here.
