2014 Governing Board Election
The OpenJDK Governing Board oversees the structure and operation of the OpenJDK Community. It has two At-Large Members who serve for a term of one calendar year, nominally starting on the first day of April each year.
Nominations for the 2014 term were due by 23:00 UTC on Friday, 14 March 2014.
During this time any OpenJDK Member could nominate an individual who does not currently hold an appointed Governing Board seat to fill one of the At-Large seats. That individual need not already be an OpenJDK Member. An OpenJDK Member could make more than one such nomination.
Candidates
Two individuals were nominated, and each accepted his nomination. The candidates' own statements were as follows:

Looking back at the candidate statement I wrote last year, I can see how much has changed. It's hard for me to remember quite why I wrote what I did, but some of it must have been due to frustration, partly with the wait for the bug database to be opened.
This year things look different. On the positive side, the bug database has been opened, the Power PC port has been accepted into OpenJDK, and the way in which OpenJDK has worked with the JCP to produce JDK 8 has been good. On the negative side, it's still sometimes hard for people outside Oracle, and in particular individual contributors, to work on OpenJDK. On the whole though, I think we've made a lot of progress.
My goals remain what they have always been: for OpenJDK to be a truly open free software project, to remove barriers caused by process and administrative overheads, and for everyone, especially newcomers, to be able easily to contribute in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
We've come a long way, but there's some way to go. I ask for your support as an OpenJDK Governing Board at-large member so that I can continue to encourage the board to do the Right Thing.

I hope to continue my role as an advocate for continuing improvements in OpenJDK processes and mechanisms, especially as they impact the academic, research, and individual contributor communities. While several major issues (for example bug database access) have become settled over the past year, we still face others to attain fully open development opportunities by all contributors.
Results
Voting started at 23:00 UTC on Thursday, 27 March, and ran for two weeks, ending at 23:00 UTC on Thursday, 10 April. Secret ballots were used, per the Governing Board's direction.
There were two candidates for two open seats, so per the OpenJDK Community Bylaws this was a ratification election: Each nominee needed to be approved by a Simple Majority of those Members who voted.
The final tallies were:
